Hardings Point Loyalist Cemetery
The Hardings Point Cemetery is located on the Kingston Peninsula, N.B., in Westfield Parish on the St John River. As one travels up-river from the Hardings Point-Westfield ferry, the cemetery is on the left on Pancake Hill, the steep hill leading away from the river.
There are a number of field-stone markers with no inscriptions; mostly irregular stones, but some are shaped a bit. Near the Hamm plot, #’s 57-59 are 2 shaped ones about 2 ½ to 3 feet tall, a long stem and rounded top. A similar design is near #78, Theall, but is only a few inches tall. Several of the rough stones have fallen but depressions there seem to indicate the presence of a grave. Another feature of this cemetery are the fenced-in plots. There are several of these of various sizes, but in some there are no stones nor markers, so it is not known at present who lies there.
